Halo Guyz!!!

I have acer aspire 9110.

It has a wireless card onboard intel i think. And it works perfectly.

Now i want to add an pcimcia card i have. It Dlink Airplus XtremeG
model: DWL-G650

I add it and when i type iwconfig it returns me only the onboard one. here are the results :

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

Have you any ideas on how to make it work with the dlink wireless card..?

Install a real OS!

jk, does the machine see the card itself? Are you sure it is supported under Linux and if so do you have the kernel module built for it?

I have the backtrack 4 as OS. And as i remember few years ago this card worked with backtrack older versions. But i don't remember how :p

does ifconfig show the card?

To see a device in ifconfig in my laptop you have to type first ifconfig device up

and then if you type ifconfig you will see it. But i dont know the name of the device of dlink wireless card..to make it up.

ifconfig -a should show you all devices, up or not.

hmm it doesnt show the card...:s

most wireless cards will work under linux with the prism2 driver, do a search for that in your favorite search engine and build the module, that might get it working.

As i remember this one works with madwifi driver. But i think that this driver is installed in my system...

if it doesn't show the card there probably isn't a driver for it, check dmesg when you insert it and see if it is in there.

yeah.. i type lspci and its there ..Also i search in google and saw that its drivers is madwifi. And now im trying to understand on how to install them :)

if the module is installed on the system it should have loaded automagically.

Are you booting Backtrack in a VMware and then trying to see the PCMCIA card? The VMware will not have hardware access to the PCMCIA socket. If you are booting Backtrack directly from a CD or USB you should see it as WLAN0.

It can be a cause of corrupt drivers so update your drivers for better solution.
