Senior IT Security Engineer - Chicago Opportunity

The primary responsibility of this position is design, engineering, implementation, and support of CDW’s information security infrastructure. This is a senior technical role that requires appropriate expertise and experience in a broad range of information security domains. The ideal candidate will have skills and experience including, but not limited to, security engineering, ethical hacking, penetration testing, web technologies, secure application development, network security, CIRTs, forensics and compliance.

Responsibilities include:
Firewall architecture and infrastructure design, migration and support.
Network access control (NAC) and/or IPS design, implementation and support.
Perform security risk assessments, penetration tests and vulnerability scanning of CDW infrastructure to ensure perimeter and internal security postures are sufficient and security vulnerabilities are discovered and addressed.
Collaborate and work closely with other IT groups to determine recommendations to improve the security of existing infrastructure and applications.
Collaborate and partner with E-Commerce developers to ensure CDW’s web presence and transaction and back-end systems are adequately secure.
Evaluate and pilot new security hardware and software.
Review emerging security threats (exploits, viruses, worms) with regard to protecting CDW’s infrastructure.
Audit security patch levels across the CDW infrastructure.
Lead Visa PCI project team to achieve information security compliance, document exceptions, or provide detailed project plans to close or mitigate open information security items.
Collaborate with SOX project team to achieve information security compliance.
Lead and coordinate information security related incidents.
Perform forensic investigations as required.
Create tools to automate security processes and procedures.
Participate in business continuance planning.
Maintain and update, as needed, the CDW Information Security policy.
Maintain technical architecture documentation for CDW information security infrastructure.
Implement security awareness and education programs to ensure coworkers understand and adhere to security best practices.

Qualifications

Thorough knowledge and experience with ethical hacking or penetration testing is critical for this position
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree in information technology preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite.
Adept at conducting and analyzing network captures or sniffs.
Comprehensive knowledge of information security best practices.
Thorough knowledge and experience with as many of the following as possible: security engineering, ethical hacking, penetration testing, application security, web technologies, secure application development, network security (IDS/IPS, firewalls, VPNs, wireless), CIRTs, forensics, host-based security, security awareness and education and compliance.
Industry certifications such as CEH, CISSP, SANS/GIAC, Cisco CCSP are preferred.
Thorough understanding of web technologies and applications, web development, and SDLC is required.
Good understanding of encryption technologies and algorithms.
Thorough knowledge and experience, from a security perspective, with a Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 environment, IIS 6.0 and Active Directory required.
Thorough understanding of Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET and web services are a big plus.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Excellent combination of soft and in-depth technical skills.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate to all levels of coworkers, managers, and executives.
Strong leadership and project management skills are required.
Highly motivated and dedicated, with a strong sense of ownership and passion for technology.
