Description
As a member of the Security Monitoring Team within the Network
Organization, the right candidate will detect possible intrusion and
other security related issues. Through constant monitoring, reporting,
trending, and analysis of data (IDS, firewall, NT and Unix logs) and
correlating that data with vulnerability scans to determine possible
impact. They will be expected to escalate all issues to the proper
response group, and be part of any Security Incident Response (SIRT)
activation (aka CIRT or CSIRT). In addition, they will be responsible
for creating a knowledge base and subsequent training for issues that
can be addressed by a tier-1 support group.

Responsibilities:
-Provide senior management with daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc
reports that depict the relevant security issues and identify any
implied threats -Recommend any changes that may lead to better
security for the firm based on analysis of events -Partner with the
Incident Response, Security Investigations, Technology Risk
Management, Network Security, the NOC, and other groups to provide
appropriate responses -Integrate IDS alarms with Remedy ticketing and
Security Information System (SIM).
-Implement correlation engine to provide maximum efficiency -Work with
various groups to create a baseline of network traffic and update IDS
policies accordingly -Create and maintain a knowledge base and
training for first responders for low-level incidents -Create and
maintain all appropriate documentation -Research new attacks and
provide documented detection methodology -Respond to any high-level
events immediately, and escalates appropriately -Contribute to the
design, implementation, and support of the IDS, scanning, and overall
monitoring solutions -Support all SIRT activities -Support Security

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's Degree in Electric Engineering, Computer Science,
Mathematics or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
-3+ years overall security experience
-3+ years Security Monitoring, IDS, SIRT or related experience
-Experience with Enterasys Dragon IDS and related components, and
other network security products, such as sniffers and protocol
analyzers ArcSight experience a plus -Report writing and strong
analytical skills -Project management experience a plus -Strong
working knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols such as VLANs,
MPLS and Frame Relay -Knowledge of leading vendor equipment such as
Cisco, Motorola, Lucent, Avaya, etc...

Additional Information: Experience • Seven or more years of
experience in technical information systems positions, with at least 5
years experience in a pure information security position (firewall

• Experience with information security policies, incident response
procedures, risk analysis, and significant experience administering
the operations of a complex security infrastructure.
Knowledge/Skills • Must have active directory and windows
configuration experience.
• In-depth understanding of IP networking, networking protocols and
security-related technologies. These include encryption, IPsec, PKI,
