Position Summary The Lead IT Security Specialist is responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of security systems and processes in support of the security of the network and systems at Brown University. The Lead IT Security Specialist works within CIS and consults with department technical contacts to ensure that university data and resources are adequately protected and are maintained within university security policies and standards.
Job Qualifications BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent education and experience and 5-7 years combined IT and IT security experience. Ability to communicate technical issues to a wide variety of audiences. Excellent writing and speaking skills. Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize activities. Strong project management and organizational skills. Must be able to independently lead cross-functional project teams. Expert knowledge of some of the following: TCP/IP, firewalls, intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning, incident response, as well as knowledge of a variety of operating systems. Applicable security certifications.
