I don't write politely I write fast, or I try to.

slowloris is a program to initiate a sophisticated DoS attack using low bandwidth, intensive job scheduling to keep a server busy.

It is being used by hackers (or just computer savvy activists) against Iranian government websites that, for example, display pictures of protestors and ask for anonymous information about their identity. To be used by government forces for arrests or who knows what.

One such group of computer hacky activists, which has been making use of slowloris and pyloris, is called anonymous/whyweprotest. They're "causes" are plural and probably irritating to some (certainly to me).
However those causes include what seems a noble effort to protect iranian protestors by using slowloris as mentioned.

Just for reference, I give the two relevant links:

Just FYI.

A million pardons. But I still dislike most of the legion's political platform so take hacky activist as a compliment, if you don't like it's true meaning.

The website they (and I guess I) are trying to block (gerdab.ir), has come back online and is as fast as can be.

It looks like slowloris may not be as effective as first thought.

To any slowloris developers, you may want to keep an eye on traffic around gerdab.ir, if you have that technical know how, just to see your baby in action or inaction. If the iranians have managed to outhack you or if they just started using the cure that you've developed, is anyone's guess.

Slowloris is easy for servers to patch if their system admins aren't retarded.
