Future ha.ckers.org projects

Something I've been considering is a files section. Something where people can either contribute as they find things or where I can just throw stuff. I have a crappy directory set up for it for a two of the attack tools I've seen used against us (that failed), but I was really thinking about something more useful. I'm a little up in the aire about it.

We are considering some mailing lists as well, because frankly, a lot of people aren't into the forums format.

We are considering a job board. Hackers needs jobs too. And I don't mean "Hack x for cash." I mean actual legit security jobs. There are a few sites out there that do this, but they don't have much traction, and they aren't as global as I would like.

Tools? Should we expose some simple recon tools? Like your basic nslookup, whois, blah blah?

Wow, i like all those ideas.. and thanks ahelpyguy for bumping this thread back on the RSS feed. helpful indeed ^^

There is a bit of double edge sword with posting the attack tools malicious hackers try to use, as it lets other would-be malicious hackers use the same. But i'm under the opinion that giving the developers/auditors the same access helps more than it hurts. Equally useful though is a code repository to both demonstrate and post web app hacking as well as web app securing code. I'm all for PoC code for new ideas and research .. but i see a greater use to webappsec professionals and students by posting PoEU code (proof of example use - made it up for lack of a better acronym). For those looking to secure apps, it can be a pain to spend hours turning PoC's into example apps for testing against. Obviously, that's an even sharper double edged sword.. and it's really not in my desire to assist skript kiddies. So the details need some ironing out..

Job site would be very nice - i'm always open to a webapp related one myself, incase any of you lurkers also handles the HR dept. ^^ .. but it's like a big undertaking. Probably a pet project that may never see the light of day sadly :T

Well I got the job board section at least up and running... I'm not sure how much more I need to do on that until/unless it grows: http://sla.ckers.org/forum/list.php?17

I've mailed a few security recruiters too... so it won't necessarily be just me posting. Also if you know of anyone who needs to post some jobs, feel free to let them know about it.
