98 SE will get your box rooted in under 3 minutes.. solely from the malware probing random IPs with exploits. With support gone, those holes are never gunna be patched.

I used the Blue Screen patch back in 2000 after all the little script kiddies ran around AOL chatrooms with the "{s con\con" and "aux aux" holes.

Saphil, nice to meet you... welcome too! How do you like Ubuntu? I installed it very briefly once just to test it out, but never really used it for real.

Ugh.As some of you may know, my main box is currently a laptop with a cracked screen that I turned into a desktop with an old CRT monitor. In Windows, this was fine. It realised I had the laptop closed and shut off the LCD monitor allowing me to use the CRT at its native resolution without having the LCD as a second desktop. But NOOOO. Nothing is that easy in Linux. Not only does it not shut off the LCD monitor, it fucking changes the CRT monitors aspect ratio to that of a widescreen! Now I'm in some weird 1280x1024 world on a square monitor. The edges are cut off. I can lose windows to my cracked screen. It's horrible. And of course, people in the support channels are too busy marveling at their own idiocy that they don't say anything more than "Try fiddling with the buttons on the CRT." ITS NOT A FUCKING HARDWARE ISSUE. LINUX IS STUPID AND WONT ACCEPT THE FACT IM NOT USING THE OTHER MONITOR.

So, how do I make a bootable DVD iso of FreeBSD? ;)

Seriously, Linux is insane and I have no idea how to make a proper bootable DVD out of two CD iso's or do I even need the second one?

Assuming your burner is on windows download this:

http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

Select Burn data disk

go up to file and there is an option to write disk from ISO, select that, find the image on your hard drive and then just click "write disk".

Reboot and make sure you bios checks to book off of CD first.

ta da.

you only really need the first disk, but the second has extras on it.

In the interest of starting a flame war, since I am bored, why? It doesn't do anything over *bsd, or solaris, or any other *NIX. Why does anyone give a shit? it's harder to use distros, is years behind in management, etc... Give one reason to use it over a sane *NIX solution?

I can't give one good reason other then BSD isn't for me (or not just yet) as an OS. I've been stuck at linux and did not had the thoughts or interest to look beyond that. But who knows, one must start somewhere.

Okay, so there is the laptop on the side there. And my old box in the bottom right. A nice cup of Java(Only Java I'll touch with a 10-foot pole.)

And, my plant that sorta took a beating during the construction of that desk a few days ago.

My other laptop was fixed up and given to my mother for her new digital camera usage. With which I took this pic. I sized it down a tad.

Getting a new monitor in about 40 minutes. Heading out to buy a new LCD.

Are you left handed?
I can't help notice the cup is on the left hand side of the table.
Also, I can't help notice how tidy it is. If I had a camera I'd show my desk, safe to say the only visible desk space is that immediately around my laptop and occasionally what you can see through empty packets of confectionary.

I'm actually ambidextrous. I do things with both my hands equally.

Also, ahahahaha! It's probably only tidy because I only put together this desk a few days ago.
