del.icio.us rocks OR small world

del.icio.us rocks. really. I didn't figured that out until recently.

You know these "saved by xxx other people" links from del.icio.us.

A few days ago, I had an idea.
How about making a program that will go through all my links and see what other people have bookmarked my links. The people who will have the most common links with me may have other intesting stuff in there :) I started to make this program, run it and gathererd a list of usernames.

Managed to find some very interesting bookmark lists but the funny thing is that I recognized a lot of names in this list of usernames (ntp, gnucitizen, jungsonn, aeaster, merliin, ...) Small world :)

I added most of them to my network and was thinking that del.icio.us should have this implemented by default. Maybe there is a program like this already available?

Here is what I'm talking about:
http://del.icio.us/ntp
http://del.icio.us/gnucitizen
http://del.icio.us/aeaster
http://del.icio.us/merliin

Do you have some nice (security related) bookmark lists that would you like to share?

Yep, i tryed del.icio.us for some time. But then i started to realize that it can be dangerous to bookmark everything there. It's easy to be profiled that way. Also, i found out a bunch of n00bs are bookmarking everything, from there gmail, hotmail, plesk, cpanel access URI's etc. Asking for trouble.

I also tried rsnake but from the links it doesn't look like him :)

You are totally right about the profiling jungsonn.
Was thinking about it for some time, you can find out a lot about somebody just by following his bookmarks.

You can always use "Bookmarks: private saving".

Interesting.
I've never liked Del.icio.us though.
Mainly because even now, I get 10 e-mails a week telling me someone requested my password.

I guess "Six" is a wanted username.

Nope, that's not me, but how funny! I have never used del.icio.us personally... I use digg every once in a while, but not that often (and mostly for commenting purposes or if I need to digg my own stuff) http://www.digg.com/users/rsnake/news/dugg But yes that is interesting. I've often thought about putting together a really thorough link list, but I just never took it that extra mile. http://ha.ckers.org/links.html

id did most of those, but I think we gave up on it fairly quickly. It just gets way out of date way too quickly.

oh shit. i wish del.icio.us supported https and secure cookies (besides secure.del.icio.us which only allows you to login and change your settings). although what the hell is _accept_s_cookies it gives me?

speaking of changing your settings - there are options for `private saving' and `network privacy' in the settings section.

there are tons of ways to script del.icio.us. i don't like that i need to be logged into it all the time to make it really useful. it could be really vulnerable to an exponential XSS or CSRF attack. i try not to login to multiple places at once, but it's easy to make del.icio.us the exception to this rule.
