Which actually he did no such thing.. I should know since I am the one who re-designed and implemented these things during my tenure there between 2001-2004, this will now forever be etched into the Internet's memory banks.. regardless of how he decides to edit his 'accomplishments'.. oh, and I am very curious to find out what 'security' he used to secure his 'secure wireless network' during that time since only WEP was available then.. maybe it was a super-hard-to-guess-password(tm) technology that I am unaware of.. ha!

Now.. the one question I do have though is: What were the 3 layers? Chocolate, vanilla and.... ??? I can't think of what it could have been.. ;)

Not sure if it is forever. I think most things will be gone in a timeframe of about 10 years. I did try to find things I wrote back in 1999 and they are all gone. I try to look up sites I made in 1999 and they too are gone, including in archives up to about or around 2002.

Haha, true. But no, that was before my that site. Sites like geo-cities are completely gone for example. And I also had angelfire websites, those are gone too but I never closed them. :) also comments on other sites are either removed or Google has a certain feature when it prunes very old data, which seems plausible otherwise they cannot compete with real-time information like twitter.

btw, suddenly this forum is riddled with spam?? 0_o

Yeah true, I miss geo-cities :( it is like an old tv show. You don't really like watching it but you'd like the option at some point.

We need a search engine that can search the past that would be pretty useful and keep a full copy of everything, I guess the difficulty is providing server side features that are no longer there.

a big part of the GeoCities content has been available as a torrent file from a group called the Archive Team and maybe you can still download it. The file was huge, about several hundred gigabyte. I didn't download it, because I don't have enough space and downloading it would take ages with my slow connection.

On http://reocities.com/ you can browse through some of the old pages and sites, but many things are broken now, missing images.

I don't really miss GeoCities, but I miss the interesting time on the web in the 90s. :-(

Out of sentiment I was looking for my first browser bug ever and what I wrote about it, but that wasn't hosted on GC. It was a page with an image that loaded an executable in MSIE. Realy sweet, and very naive times. If we knew back then what we know now it would have been a very, very, very insecure place.
