random thought, instead of putting your 'zomg nubs tried to hax us for our grandma porn' logs at ha.ckers.org/logs or whatever, why not put them on tra.ckers.org and carry on the word creation-subdomain theme?! great idea brought on by two days of no sleep... mmhmmmm.

That's not a bad idea. And btw, if you hadn't noticed the log of people we ban has been increasing very rapidly as we find more and more machines that have been hacked into who are being used to propagate botnets. It would be fairly trivial to turn that list into another botnet list that's way more targeted than almost anything else you could find anywhere. Just a thought.

Indeed it is. But mostly those are automated programs that just slow the site down by trying a lot of exploits that have zero hope of working. It wouldn't be so bad if they just gave up, but they keep trying over and over (in some cases hundreds of times). As a result we have to block them so the site performance stays good.

Anyway, if you use that list you can pretty easily create a pretty massive botnet, since most of those IPs are currently hacked.

Yep, and it is going up quite a few a day now, I've had a couple other ideas to find attackers and kill em lately, so it could go up faster... Once my new firewall is up and going there will be a lot of fun with pf, snort and some hacks I've been writting, the current one just doesn't have the power to do the traffic analysis for the amount of traffic we have.
