Opera Widgets

I haven't looked at the Widgets list since just after the release of Opera 9.
There is some neat stuff there. A full WYSIWYG editor, Version monitoring tools (displays latest version of several programs at once), a smaller, quicker version of BugMeNot.com, quick nutrition facts search, TinyURL.com generator, an anagram generator, loads of games, webcams of things, rss feed readers and more.

Pretty soon Widgets will surpass FF extensions. ;D

Opera on freebsd kicks firefox's ass, seriously impressed with the speed. That said, I need my extensions which is why I am still using FF.

On a side note, I knew about Opera on a portable storage unit such as USB. but I never knew about this. http://letwist.net/operator Opera - Spy Browser?

An interesting thing to note is that extensions could be a large security liability for Firefox, so now that Opera's going for a similar strategy...

You're exactly right... has anyone done any research into detecting Opera Widgets as I've done with Firefox extentions?

Opera widgets are totally seperate from the browser. They cannot interact with tabs, cookies, etc. They are independant web apps. ;D

Hrm, are they just locked out of most the browsers resources? or do they run as a separate process? Arbitrary code execution sounds much tastier than cookies to me.. :3

They are chromeless Opera tabs with no access to any resources.

I just found out Opera can use some Greasemonkey scripts.
