.ckers IP Problems
Posted by: Tipidy

Hey all,

I have a few problems with using the .ckers websites, no matter what machine I use the IP ends up getting blocked from accessing .ckers websites. Now, the only way I can access the .ckers websites is through different proxies.

If you are using FF and have the Web Developer Toolbar installed, ensure that the "disable cache" option is not checked. I had this problem before and it trips the DoS checks id has set up.

Let me know if that works. It did for me.

I am using FF 3.0 and have the Web Developer Toolbar installed, I have disabled cache and now have no problems. Although I still can't access .ckers websites under my real IP address or any other proxies I have used previously, must be on the banned list. However, I am able to access .ckers websites under a proxy without any real problems. So, it looks like I am going to have to use proxies to access the .ckers websites.

For the record, I wasn't attempting to hack any of the .ckers websites. ;)

At least you found out why you were being blocked. I have yet to figure out what is causing FF 3.0 for me to download images and CSS files repeatedly. I don't have webdev installed on this profile. I suspect safecache or safehistory, but could possibly be some edited about:config entry of mine. I just view a few new posts and then visit another site for awhile and come back, helps me out in most cases to not get blocked.

PM me your IP address and I'll remove the block, we're looking at loosening the rules a bit since this problem seems pretty widespread.

We adjusted some thresholds, if anyone thinks they may have a banned IP, PM me and I'll remove it.

Glad I could help. It sucks though that you have to loosen the rules id. I know you probably worked hard at getting them just right.

Haha, no it was pretty arbitrary where we set it, and blame RSnake, he set the threshold, not me!

Send one of us (id or myself) your IP address and we'll figure out what's going on.
