New Here.....

What's up hackers! I'm new here & viewing all the posts in here had me itching to join. I would like to learn a lot of this stuff discussed in here & pick @ your brains..haha. I'm a noob in the coding/programming side, my experience lies more in the networking/sys admin stuff & I work for a data center located in the bay area, CA. Anyone here from the bay area & in any particular meet-up groups?

Also, can anyone recommend any books that would give me a good intro or get me up to speed about all that's discussed here? I'm already familiar w/ LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, but not much of PHP & PERL). Thanks & looking forward to learn & also contribute (hopefully).

Hey, UnderCover, there are a lot of bay area folks on the board. I've spent a lot of time up there and as I said in this post, http://ha.ckers.org/blog/20070111/rsacon-and-wasc-meetup/ I'll be there for the WASC meetup, if you want to meet some of the people.

As far as getting up to speed, it's probably best if you look at the XSS cheatsheet http://ha.ckers.org/xss.html and read some of the older XSS tagged posts to get a feel for what we are dealing with: http://ha.ckers.org/blog/category/webappsec/xss/

That will at least get you up to the point where the terms and basic problems will be familiar to you. But please feel free to ask any questions you have. Even if we have already covered it, there are probably lots of others who have similar questions. Welcome!
