Introductory post as usually when you're new somewhere.

I've being around this forum and the ha.ckers page for sometime now which I've enjoyed a lot, I think that is because the way the content is viewed and discussed, I mean, is not a thing like "hey, lets xss them for fun and profit!" there's more concern about the true problem behind the insecurities that are around the web as it is today, so, that's why I decide to join.

I'm not much of a talker actually and I'm not a webappsec expert neither, the subject however interest me and I think that if there's a place where you can talk about it in mature way, this is the place :)

Finally I'm from Venezuela so I might write some typo here and there in which case don't hesitate to correct me ;)

Best regards.

Bienvenido, es un placer tener otros Hispanos.

As for your English, extremely admirable! Much better than what is written here in the U.S.

Gracias por la bienvenida ;)

Several people have told me that, I think that's because doesn't really care about comunicating properly =/ but it's very easy to be misunderstood so I do my best to write correctly or at least, to be understood

Thanks for the welcome thrill =)

That's because people are becoming increasingly lazy and have picked up these horrible habits from instant messenger chat sessions and texting.

How r u? lol. g2g. ttyl. kwim? etc.

Drives me up a friggin' wall when people write like that constantly. It makes me want to take an English text book and bash them upside the head with it. I don't mind occassionally, and I do it at times when texting, but only when the text is going to meet the maximum amount of characters without it. Haha.

Edit: And what's sad is I vaguely recall reading somewhere that this could become the norm, possibly even "official" as time goes by and the kids of today become the adults of tomorrow.

I don't think it's laziness because I'm lazy.. I think it's the fact that most do not know how to properly use words, or the correct spelling of them. So for them, anything that takes away the correct spelling of it the better! LORF! ;)

Well, I'm also lazy so I think that "aquired bad habit" defines the problem better =)

I think that there are times and places for everything, including those bad habits, in an active irc chat can be difficult to avoid the bad habit since everyone is writing and sending things so fast that if you take the time to write properly it may be too late because the sentence probably doesn't have meaning anymore ^^

However very is annoying when is used in places when you have all the time in the world to write/type well

Agreed. Pero la verdad tambien es que nuestro propio lenguage esta sufriendo mucho. Yo trabajo con un Español que dice que en España, la juventud no sabe escribir para nada... sad sad times.. :(

Indeed, I think that is more sad to know that this isn't a problem of just one language, all of them have been damage in one way or the other thanks to bad habits, most of all in young people, sad enough, they're suppose to be the future *sigh*

Hence the reason I said "when they write like that constantly". There IS a time and place for it, but to write like that all the time is LAZY. I use them at times as well, but sparingly. And definantly not in something that'll reflect poorly on me professionally. =oÞ

Yeah, no doubt about that, thrill. Or when people say "lol" or "pwned". I'm like, "Seriously???"

That's pretty messed up and more if we're talking at professional level, not that by using it one day you're unprofessional, but actually use it in a regular basis doesn't seem right

Thanksfully where I live I haven't encountered (yet) anyone who actually "talk" using those sort of things but I'm pretty sure that if I do I'll be asking about what those words means and the person will end speechless, which is something even worst and pretty common, a lot of people use those words but don't actually know what it means

Everything is acceptable if the place and moment is right;

Say you're with your friends watching some sort of leet tv show there's nothing wrong in saying "ROFL! did ya' see that? w00t!" =)

I don't think there's ever a time when saying "ROFL" out loud is acceptable.
