I'm just wanna say hi like others!
I've been a regular visitor to this Sla.ckers.Org and Ha.ckers.Org since few months ago.
I'm from Myanmar.

I'm 21, greatly intested in web security, web development, programming; take intest only in open-source. I characterize myself as a greedy learner; learning, researching, testing, buiding skills with aid of ebooks and downloaded entire web sites. Here a lof of young people walks on Microsoft technologies and they try to get MS certifications like MCSA, MCSD...
I don't wanna much to learn about Microsoft-only technologies and dedicating to MS tech is a hindrance to switch to WWW standards.
But I realize that an IT professional must have exposure to as many OSs/technologies as possible.

I respect great, advanced hackers and wanna have brains like theirs.
Mr. RSnake is one of my ideals.

Welcome iota, you are welcome here. I agree, I try to stay away from any one particular technology as that seems more like religion than the right way to deal with things. I'd rather pick whatever technology works best for whatever situation I'm in. Sometimes that's Microsoft and sometimes it's not.

Anyway, welcome!

Kanatoko, welcome! Perhaps you can help us communicate with some of the web application security folks in Japan. There are lots of smart people there, but the language issues have made it hard to exchange information. You're very welcome here!

Exact. it seems a pitfall to narrow, that's why sometimes even genius programmers who stick only to php for instance are tackled by someone whoes excellence lies in JavaScript & PHP. by compromising it with a little XSS.

Yeah.. you're right.

Well I do some application auditing for work, but nothing big.. and I've been RSS feeding myself with the content of this forum. But hey, mutual communication is better than internet based monologues. :D

Nice job rsnake, cool to see such a nice a forum being online.. since many security related groups turned bad.. this is a group that follows a strict no bullshit policy so it seems...

thanks

I'm light on the bullshit and heavy on the tech stuff. So if that's what you're about you're in the right place. That said, there's always time for jokes, so the occasional humor is thrown in. Otherwise it would be too dry.

Hi

I finally got my account confirmed (by logging into my webmail as opposed to reading mail through cPanel which doesn't work for confirming links :s)

Anyway, I'm Tribute. I'm not a coder or a hacker. I consider myself as an explorer. I've been reading ha.ckers and sla.ckers for quite a long time now and enjoy it greatly. I have a website of my own, but as not a great deal is there for the random web viewer, its not worth linking.

Hey, Pete - this forum isn't just for the best of the best, it's to learn. I highly doubt you are the least knowledgeable person here (maybe the least knowledgeable person who posts, but not who reads). For every person who posts we probably have at least one more who subscribes but never posts and at least 2 more who never even subscribe. So trust me, any question you ask there is at least 2-4 other people out there who don't know the answer either. Welcome to the boards!

Hi, I'm Mark IJbema.

I'm 22, and currently studying CS. I also work at a department of our university which develops web applications and i do most security related stuff around there, as well as trying to check all other apps of our university on security and bugging people about it.

Some time ago i wrote a XSS/SQL injection scanner (but it seems to be removed from the web :( i probably have it around somewhere), but i guess it's a bit outdated now, since it uses a spider instead of a proxy, thus becoming less useful by the day. Also, it isn't really modular enough... It was useful by then at least (2003), that is, i couldn't find other scanners at that time.

I also have a blog at [markijbema.blogspot.com]

I'll guess I'm another one those lurkers :) Took some time to activate the account, the possibility that the confirmation email ended up in the spam folder took me days to figure out (Using GMail, but I guess nobody is to blame).

My name is norwegian, and so am I. I've spent a few years in the UK though. And there is only 6 months until I'm 18 :D

I run the website norhack.net, which is supposed to be a norwegian security related information/news website thing. Right now it's pretty much dead due to inactivity... I'll try to get the new site up this christmas, or thats the plan, anyway.

I found this forum by Google->XSS Cheat Sheet->ha.ckers.org->sl.ackers.org. Always interesting to know :)

The reason I suddenly registered was to discuss some thoughts I have, after leeching knowledge of you guys for a couple of months :P Belongs in some other subforum though.

And I'm a whitehat, after doing some pretty stupid stuff roughly one year ago. Hint: I spent two weeks working at my school free of charge. But don't judge me. I might tell the whole story if I get comfortable here :P

Hahah... no one is judging anyone. We're glad to have you, Torstein, and I'd love to hear the story. I did lots of free auditing on my campus' LAN back in the mid 90s. Those were they early days when no one knew anything about security. NATs were just coming out in popularity. Crazy times. Things have definitely changed.

We're glad to have you and thanks for letting us know how you found us!
